Traffic Management Details for Foul Sewer Diversion Works
In order to allow the "tennis racket" roundabout to be completed, the diversion of a foul sewer line in the northeast corner of Umm Al-Hassam Junction is necessary. In order to decrease the impact of these works on traffic movement as much as possible, the works will be carried out in stages.
These diversion works are scheduled to take approximately two (2) months.
Stage 1. (COMPLETED)
Partial works of laying foul sewer line will be inside the island on the Northeast corner. There will be no disruption to traffic; traffic traveling to Bahrain Map Junction or using the slip road to Kuwait Avenue will not be effected.
Duration: 3 weeks.
Stage 2. (COMPLETED)
Work starts to affect the slip road to Kuwait Avenue where a new lane will be constructed slightly to the North. At this stage, the diversion works will not affect traffic on Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Highway. Traffic will travel normally.
Duration: 2 weeks.
Stage 3. (COMPLETED)
Traffic on Shaikh Isa Bin Salman HWY will be diverted slightly to the North (towards the northeast island), and swinged back to the existing traffic signal at the Junction. The two lanes of traffic going west will be maintained. Traffic going south to Sitra Causeway will not be effected. Normal traffic is maintained on/to Kuwait Avenue.
Duration: 3 weeks.
Stage 4. (COMPLETED)
Part of the slow lane on Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Highway will be closed . Two lanes of traffic will be maintained westbound on Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Highway. The new slip road north to Kuwait Avenue will be operational. Traffic traveling south to Sitra will not be affected.
Duration: 4 days
Drivers are requested to abide by traffic signboards at all times.
